I am super excited to announce a couple of volleyball opportunities that are available for MISD kiddos at Mansfield High School starting in the new year. We're a little ways away from kicking them off, but I wanted to put it on your radar so you could plan for it if it's something you would like your child to participate in!

Our upcoming Mansfield Minis’ Volleyball Academy is for our MISD K-6th graders at schools zoned for Mansfield High School - it will be held on Monday and/or Thursday nights at Mansfield High School. I will be running this volleyball clinic along with my high school staff, coaches from our middle schools, and former Mansfield High School athletes. Each night’s session will consist of both skill development and competitive play in a fun, encouraging environment.

Session I: Feb 9, 16, 23, March 2, & 9 (Mondays)

Session II: Feb 5, 12, 19, 26, & March 5 (Thursdays)

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

** MISD K - 6th graders at schools zoned for MHS (Alma Martinez, Boren, Brown, Nash, Reid, Perry, Asa Low,or Mary Orr)

OR who have a parent employed at Mansfield High School are invited to attend!!

We are also facilitating an MISD Futures Volleyball Academy for ALL MISD 7th & 8th graders at Mansfield High School on those same nights. We are bringing in an awesome coaching staff from outside the district to work with our athletes (as UIL rules do not allow our MISD coaches to do so). Each session will include fundamental training, skill development, controlled scrimmages, and competitions.

So who are the volleyball opportunities for? Pretty much everyone :) If your daughter is new to volleyball, this is a great way to get her an introduction to the sport. If your daughter has played before, this is a good fit, as all kids will be placed on courts with those of similar skill level so instruction is appropriately challenging for each group. If your daughter did not make a 7th or 8th grade team this season but wants to try out next year (which I encourage!), it is a great way to get touches and instruction to help close the gap. If your daughter is a multisport kiddo, this is a great way to play volleyball without a huge time commitment, allowing her to grow her volleyball game while also playing another sport this winter. We know your kids are busy, and by offering sessions on two nights a week for both of the academies, there is always room to make up a missed session due to illness or another commitment.
