Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Provides 462 UIL Athletic Physicals and 144 Free Heart Screenings

No abnormalities detected in teenage athletes

Physicians and medical staff partnered with Mansfield ISD athletics on Saturday to provide 462 UIL sports physicals to middle and high school student athletes along with 144 echocardiograms. 

Jeff McDaniel, MD lead the team of physicians who volunteered their time to conduct the sports physicals and the echos were led by Alan Taylor, MD, and Levi Rice, DO cardiologists on staff at Methodist Mansfield. Other physicians participating were Mary Ann Weaver, MD; Jaremy James, MS; Brandy Yeary, MD; John Harris, MD; Juan Gavalda, MD; Avery Nolen, MD; Mike McInnis, MD; Tam Huynh, MD; Irene Olabode, MD; Ketan Trivedi, MD; Minh Le, DO; Edward Mairura, MD, John Drkulec, MD; Darin Charles, MD; and Ranjit Dhelaria, MD.

“This was an incredible opportunity for our student athletes to have a quality physical exam,” said Mansfield ISD Athletic Director Philip O’Neal. “The generous donation of time and equipment from Methodist Mansfield was superb and we appreciate their service to our athletes and district.”

The Methodist Mansfield sports physicals and echocardiogram community outreach program was honored with both a 2018 Fort Worth Business Press Healthcare Hero Award and a 2017 D CEO Excellence in Healthcare Award.
