Young pianists from Mansfield and surrounding cities will perform at the National Piano Guild Auditions on May 4-5, 2018. Guild is sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Teachers Division of American College of Musicians.  The Mansfield Audition Center is at the piano studio of Mickey Legg, and students will play on a Steinway grand piano.  A Tokai upright is available for duos.  

Mrs. June Leondar of Fort Worth will evaluate the students' performances based upon their presentation of baroque, classical, romantic and modern works.  Mrs. Leondar has her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and Master of Education in Music from Texas Tech University. 

Mrs. Leondar has a long and distinguished career at Tarrant County College.  She was also coordinator of College Class Piano Program and the Preparatory Piano Program.  TCC System awarded her Emeritus Instructor of Piano and "Distinguished Service Award."

She has held leadership positions in many professional organizations including being president of Texas Music Teachers Association.  During her teaching career, she gave private piano lessons 1957-1998.  She is a faculty member of National Guild of Piano Teachers and has judged Guild auditions yearly since 1968.  She was coordinator for TMTA Student Affiliate Performance Contests 2000-2013.

Currently, Mrs. Leondar is a trustee for TMTA, theory chairman for Fort Worth Music Teachers Association, and chairman of Youth Piano Duo Competition at Texas Wesleyan University.
