The North Texas summer is off to a sizzling start with a music-packed weekend at the beautiful Levitt Pavilion in Downtown Arlington. On Friday night, the Levitt will serve the blues hot and NOLA-styled with headline act Big Sam’s Funky Nation, but not before whetting your appetite with a little spice from DFW-based Igimèjí, an alt-R&B band with a sound that’s “vibrant and sunny, cool and funky.” Next up: Groove to the tunes of Saturday evening opener Lorena Leigh, loved by fans for her distinct “cowgirl-mermaid” sound, then kick back with a concert by Texas Country Music Association multi- award-winner Curtis Grimes. On Sunday, it’s time for Texas-styled rock-n-roll from Justin Tipton & The Troublemakers, who take the stage after an opening performance by local country/Americana singer-songwriter Kameryn. You can BYO picnic basket or sample cuisine from Levitt’s food truck fleet; or, grab a bite before or after the show at one of Downtown Arlington’s famous eateries. This weekend of FREE live music is made possible by Arlington Today Magazine, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, and Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital - Arlington.
